Ragin’ Bulls T-Shirt Design
In the spring of 2022, my older brother - who serves as a fighter pilot in the navy - asked me to create a t-shirt design for his squadron, the VFA-37 Ragin’ Bulls. They specifically requested a Miami Vice-inspired theme, since they were having these made for the summer.
Note: these designs were exclusively created for the squadron’s internal use.
Front
The squadron wanted their name, “Ragin’ Bulls”, on the front of the shirt, styled after the Miami Vice logo. I matched the colors from the original logo and found an identical font, LTC Broadway, on Adobe Fonts.
Back
As requested, the back of the shirt was designed to feature a larger and more intricate illustration. It incorporated four key elements: a sunset, palm trees, two F/A-18s, and their squadron: VFA-37. Drawing inspiration from the artwork of the Miami Vice show, I incorporated elements such as the line work, silhouette style, color palette, and drop shadow and glow effects.
